What you'll need:
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons mirin (may substitute sherry vinegar and 1 tsp sugar)
3 teaspoons cornstarch
¼ cup water
What you'll do:
- For the sauce:
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil
Mix cornstarch and ¼ cup water in a separate bowl
Add cornstarch/water mixture to saucepan and boil until it thickens (2 minutes)
- For the Salmon
Soak cedar plank in water for 1 hour
Rub salmon with olive oil, season with salt
Place cedar plank on BBQ and warm it up for about 10 minutes, should be fragrant when it is ready
Place salmon on your warmed cedar plank
BBQ until salmon is cooked to your liking, 8-15 minutes depending on thickness
Once off the grill, brush teriyaki sauce onto the fish and serve immediately
